Autonomous Vehicles for Everyone

At the Volkswagen Future Center, I had the unique opportunity to contribute to multiple groundbreaking projects for the Volkswagen Group brands. The most exciting of these was the Sedric project—the group’s first fully autonomous vehicle. While serving as a UX intern, I was entrusted with designing key user experiences for the vehicle’s interior, focusing specifically on the transparent display placed behind the seats. The goal was to create a minimal yet engaging user interface tailored to the needs of passengers in an autonomous taxi setting.
The project allowed us to rethink the possibilities of interaction in a driverless environment. With autonomy as the backbone, we explored fun, innovative ideas that enhanced the passenger experience—like Karaoke and Meditation modes—turning the vehicle’s interior into a personalized space for relaxation and entertainment. I led the design of a simple, intuitive interface that reflected the car’s minimalistic nature while still offering users a variety of interactive options.
In addition to the transparent display, I also worked on designing the "One Button"—a seamless way for passengers to summon the vehicle autonomously. This research and design work paved the way for future mobility solutions where simplicity, interaction, and automation go hand-in-hand, giving passengers an entirely new way to engage with their vehicle.
